Mount Sinai

From its modest beginnings in the early 20’s as a maternity and convalescent hospital with less than fifty beds, to its current success as a 472-bed academic health centre on University Avenue, Mount Sinai Hospital in the Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Health Complex, was created by the community, for the community.

As a leading health care provider, Mount Sinai is one of Canada’s finest hospitals and is fully accredited by and affiliated with the University of Toronto. A staff of over six hundred currently operates the facility, and it hosts extraordinary programs in areas such as oncology, internal medicine, women’s and infants’ health, and chronic adult diseases. Mount Sinai is also an international research centre with physicians, researchers and scientists of the renowned Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute — ranked as one of the world’s top biomedical research centres — making revolutionary discoveries everyday. Today, when Canada’s hospitals face unprecedented challenges, Mount Sinai is using change as a catalyst to enhance the quality of its teaching, research and clinical care; a cause which Mark Rivkin proudly supports.
